SO, as I am going around the classifieds, I am noticing a lot of "Selling my whole system" or "Getting out of the hobby" Some people have mounds of gear, not even installed and you know they are taking a hit on it.. So, I got to thinking.. Is car audio considered a "Hobby" or a part of your lifestyle.. With me, it is a part of my lifestyle.. I drive my car often and when I am driving without my Wife and Girls, it is my sonic sanctuary.. Let's me relax and enjoy good music at my Volume On top of that, it keep me busy always trying to make it better and look better employing tings I learned here and elsewhere.. So, what do you think it is? |

Lifestyle. I'm in the car at least two hours a day, so it is definitely my outlet/relaxation time. |

A lifestyle ! It has been since I was 16 (35 now) ... I even worked in the industry as an installer and sales person for awhile at two different shops .. Back when I didn't have a mortgage ! ~DaVe |

I'd wager it's both for me. Cars in general is what I consider my "lifestyle," or maybe just my obsession. That's probably a better word. Car audio is a subcategory within that obsession. I will say that being with someone who is equally obsessed with it has perpetuated the "lifestyle" as we so kindly refer to it as. For better or for worse... but I'm not ashamed. |

Hobby and a lifestyle. My wife used to hate it. She has now grown to understand its importance in my life. My son will be 15 in 3 weeks and he's starting to get into it too. I already have an amp set aside for him. I'm also a collector. Now that I'm older I can afford the things I once wanted. Birthdays, Christmas, fathers day.... I get cash to add to my collection. I have a good job now and can afford the things I need, so most of what I get is because I want it. I'm 36 now and back in early '93 I got hooked on car audio by 2 friends and I've never looked back since. I was changing out my setup, not the components in it, but the setup all the time. Every other month I'd buy a sheet of MDF and re do my install. I'm not near as bad today as I don't have the time, but I still manage to play from time to time. I'll be redoing my amp and HU install shortly. I'm more of an old schooler and my amps are switching back to some OS goodness. LANZAR Opti amps. |
